Cultural Programs & Excursions
The Portuguese language school in Maceio offers a series of weekly
cultural activities and programs for people who come to study
and learn Portuguese. The activities are held on the afternoons
and evenings and also during the weekends. The Portuguese language
school believes that any Portuguese language program should also
offer students the chance to get to know more about Maceio, Brazil,
and the local culture.
Each week the Portuguese language
school puts up a list of upcoming events. Many activities such as
dance classes or cooking classes are held at the Portuguese language
school in Maceio.

Of Popular Activities In And Around Maceio
Marechal
This is a historic and colonial style town not far from Maceio.
The town of Marechal was founded in the 1500's and is well known
for its colonial art and beautiful baroque style colonial homes.
Following a visit to the town the rest of the day is spent at the
beautiful Gunga Beach.
Praia do Gunga
This is probably the nicest and most famous beach in the north of
Brazil. Some magazines have ranked the beach in the top ten in Brazil.
Massagueira
This town is known as having some of the best food in this region
of Brazil. The markets are fascinating, and the town has a large
variety of great restaurants. The town is nice, and the location
very picturesque. Massagueira is located on the edge of a nice lake.
Praia de Sonho Verde
(Green Dream Beach)
Another
popular beach destination. The drive is very scenic, and the beach
area and water are superb.
Futebol / Soccer
The Brazilians are famous for their soccer. Maceio has a stadium
called Rei Pelé, which is the largest in the state. At least
once per month the Portuguese language school organizes an trip
to watch a game. Throughout the year the stadium will play host
to major Brazilian games.

Part 2
One a regular basis students at the Portuguese language school will
face off against the staff of the language school. These games are
a lot of fun and are a great way to get to know everyone. Afterwards
the game there is the regular trip to the bar to continue the activities.
Museu Théo

This museum is located in a historic building in the center of Maceio.
Today the museum holds a large collection of items that related
to the history of Maceio and the state of Alagoas.

de Mundaú (Lagoon Tour)
The state of Alagoas is well known for the abundance of lagoons
it has. Each month the Portuguese language school makes a trip to
Mundaú Lagoon, which is the largest in the state. During
this tour, the students learn about the flora and fauna from specialized
local instructors and enjoy the scenery.

As a country with a large tropical region, Brazil
is famous for their fresh fruits. Each month the Portuguese language
school takes students down to one of the local markets so that you
can sample some of the fruits of Brazil.
Food
Brazilian cooking has many different influences. The Portuguese
language school in Maceio will offer cooking classes along with
visiting different restaurants on a regular basis to try different
regional styles of Brazilian cuisine.
Brazilian Dance
If you like to dance, then you will love Brazil. Maceio has and
abundance of dance bars, clubs, and places to take dance classes.
The Portuguese language school offers dance classes in Samba, Forró,
and Rítmos Variados. The dance classes are offered in the
afternoons so they will not conflict with your Portuguese language
courses. In the evenings that Portuguese language school will put
together a trip to various dance clubs or concerts.
Maceio Fest - November
In the month of November Maceio holds an out of season Carnival.
The festival runs five days and is full of music and dancing. This
festival is not only popular in Maceio, but in the rest of Brazil.
People from around the country will come in to participate in the
festivities.
