What is A2Z Languages?

In its simplest form, A2Z Languages is an intermediary between prospective language students like yourself, and the Language Schools we work with.

Our services are designed to ensure that your study abroad (foreign Language Immersion) program will be enjoyable, productive, and stress free!

Where does A2Z Languages offer programs?

We currently offer programs in Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Is there space available?

At this time, every one of our programs has space available for new students.

Note: Always check with us first regarding availability before purchasing an airline ticket.

How early should I enroll?

We ask that you register at least 4 weeks in advance.

If you are planning on attending a program during the summer months ideally you should register 2-3 months in advance to guarantee a spot.

If you are signing up for a specialty program OR requesting special accommodations we would recommend 3-4 months in advance.

How do I enroll?

The easiest way is to fill our online registration form. It only take a few minutes.

You can also talk to one of our student advisors and register by phone.

When will I know if I have been accepted?

In most cases you will receive a confirmation back from us within 24-72 hours.

Please note: the above time frame does not include weekends or holidays.

Can I make a change to my program?

In most cases you can make changes to your programs prior to the start of your program.

Once your program starts changes may become more difficult and/or impossible.

How do I pay?

Most people pay by credit card.

When you are confirmed you will receive another email with a link to an invoice. You simply go online and make your payment.

We also accept wire transfers, checks, and money orders.

When do I need to pay for my program?

Payment for most programs is due 4 weeks in advance of your start date.

For certain programs or accommodations payment may be required earlier.

Please check with us for final payment dates.

What currency are the prices listed in?

All of our prices are in US dollars.

What is not included with your programs?

You are required to pay for the following:

  • airfare
  • personal spending money
  • some meals (if you are only getting 2 meals per day then you will pay for the 3rd meal). If you are staying accommodations with no meals you will pay for all of your meals.
  • some cultural activities
  • your weekend excursions (unless specifically included in our description).
  • books or materials at some locations

When should I buy a plane ticket?

You should not buy a plane ticket UNTIL you have been officially confirmed by A2Z Languages.

What about money?

You should bring at least one ATM card. In today’s world you can typically find an ATM without any difficulty.

Please note: Some remote areas or smaller villages you may travel to during the weekends may not have an ATM so plan accordingly.

It is always good to bring some cash with you as well.

What is the average age range of the participants?

The average age of participants is between 20 and 30 years old. There are of course older and younger students participating in our programs.

In certain programs we can accept young children. At many locations you may find professionals and/or retired individuals.

What is the minimum age required to participate?

Most schools have a minimum age requirement of 18 yrs of age.

There are many exceptions however. Exceptions include camps, teen programs, family programs, juniors or teens traveling with adults, etc.

How long do most people study for?

Most people study for a period of 1 month.

Then length of time you stay is entirely up to you. Some people stay for just a week, while others stay for a period of months.

When should I arrive?

Classes start on Mondays. Plan on arriving on a Sunday.

When do classes start?

The VAST majority of programs have classes starting  every Monday of the year.

There are some exceptions to this rule. Each program description will list exact start dates.

How does the school know my level of language proficiency?

When you register you will indicate what you BELIEVE to be your level of proficiency.

The school will test you to find out your exact level. Based on that you will be placed into an appropriate level.

What happens if I feel I am placed in the wrong level?

Yes, you should first talk with your teacher and also the school administration to see if you can be placed in a different class.

Which is better? Private or group classes?

Some people prefer private classes, while other prefer the dynamics a group class offers.

Both are excellent choices. It really comes down to your learning preferences.

How many classes should I take each day?

It depends on you. Most people take 4 classes per day. That said if you want to learn the most, take more classes per day.

What nationalities attend our programs?

You will find students from all over the world participating in our programs.

How long does it take to become fluent?

The length of time is different for every person.

It depends, of course, on your previous knowledge and language learning experience. For instance, if you have studied one or two other languages in addition to your native language, learning another one will be easier. As a guideline we say that somebody with no knowledge at all needs approximately 4-6 months for fluency.

Are accommodations included?

At all of our programs we offer accommodations.

Do I have to use your accommodations?

You are not required to use our accommodations.

If you have your own place you will simply pay for the cost of classes only.

While there be other students in my accommodations?

In many locations there will be more that 1 student in the accommodations.

Unless you have selected a SHARED room, you will always have your own private bedroom.

Can I change my accommodations?

We do our best to find a accommodations that meets your specifications.

If for some reason you think that your accommodations are not suitable, we will look for an alternative.

Normally, changing accommodations is no problem. During peak periods however there might not be other options.

Can friends or family stay in the same accommodations?

If you are traveling with friends or family we can place you in the same accommodations.

Let us know if you want to share a room or if you prefer to have private rooms.

Do repeat customers get a discount?

Yes, repeat customers receive a 10% discount. You must let us know at the time of registration that you are a repeat customer in order to receive the discount.

If you do a second program (or more) within the same year, you will not need to pay the registration fee again.

What if I need to cancel my program?

The registration fee paid to A2Z Languages is non-refundable. If A2Z Languages cannot enroll you in the program of your choice, you will be issued a full refund of your registration fee.

 

If you had to make a special deposit that may not be refundable as well.

All other payments made are fully refundable if you send us a written cancellation notice more than 21 days prior to your start date.

Note: Your program start date is the day your accommodations or classes start (whichever comes first).

Notices received less then 21 days away from your start date will incur a 25% penalty (you will receive your tuition/homestay payment minus a 25% penalty).

In the case of personal emergencies, notify A2Z Languages in writing, and upon review of the particular circumstances, we may issue a partial refund.

If you cancel 4 days (or less) prior your start date you are entitled to no refund. Example: Your accommodations start on Sunday. If you cancel on the Wednesday before that Sunday you will receive NO REFUND.

Related to this, any cancellations made on the start date or later also means that you are entitled to no refund from A2Z Languages. When you combine 2 or more locations and/or programs, you are entitled to no refund on any program once the first program has begun.

Can I arrive early or stay later?

In most cases we can arrange accommodations that start earlier or end later.

You will have to pay the extra night cost of the accommodations if space is available.

Do most people travel by themselves to our programs?

Yes, a large majority of participants go by themselves to our various programs.

This means it is easy to meet and do things with the people you meet at your destination!

Do I need to get any shots?

Of course you should see your doctor before taking any foreign journey to be sure you are up to date on your regular vaccinations.

You probably won’t need to get any special vaccinations or inoculations, but it’s a good idea to check with your doctor to see what he/she recommends.
